Charlottesville-based Apex Clean Energy announced Oct. 1 that it closed financing totaling more than $589 million for Spring Creek Solar, a 150-megawatt project in Macon County, Illinois.

Helaba and KeyBank provided construction and term loans; Barclays provided tax equity — its first such investment with Apex, the company said.

The local angle is headquarters scale and financing capacity, not a Charlottesville construction payroll. Apex said Illinois construction would involve about 350 jobs, with commercial operation targeted for 2027.
