Local nonprofits have two immediate grant calendars this month: the city's Vibrant Community Fund and two application-based funds at the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation.

The City of Charlottesville's FY28 Vibrant Community Fund application window opened Oct. 1 and closes Nov. 13. Attendance at orientation is required. An in-person session was scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5, at CitySpace; a virtual session runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.

At CACF, the PB&J Fund and the Prana Fund both close at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14. PB&J supports culinary and nutrition education and access to healthful food, with one-time awards up to $25,000 or multi-year awards up to $50,000. Prana Fund grants, up to $15,000, support projects that combine environmental education and the arts for children with limited access to those experiences.

Eco-Living Fund decisions are due by Nov. 15 after a Sept. 30 close, and Bama Works Fund Round 2 decisions are expected in December.
