UVA Health said Oct. 1 that it will expand laboratory services by moving West Complex labs and a subset of 11th Street labs to a larger space at UVA's North Fork discovery park (Town Center 4) in northern Albemarle County, with the move beginning in November 2027.

Services listed for the shift include toxicology, genomics, flow cytometry and molecular infectious-disease testing. Rapid-turnaround chemistry, hematology, coagulation and microbiology will stay near University Medical Center.

UVA Health cited testing volume about 50% higher than a decade ago and plans a dedicated student training lab. The announcement is a capacity and workforce story for a major regional employer, not a patient-facing clinic move.
